Features

Everything you need to cook smarter.

Shuckly is a content-to-commerce pipeline for home cooks. Paste a link, get a clean recipe, build a priced grocery list, and cook from your phone. Built for New Zealand kitchens.

01 · Extract

From any link, in seconds.

Paste a URL — we do the rest. No watching videos at 2× speed, no scrolling past 800 words of life story, no copy-pasting from comment sections.

  1. YouTube videos and Shorts

Transcript extraction with vision fallback when captions are missing. Works on cooking channels, YouTube Shorts, and full-length recipe videos.

  2. Recipe blogs

Mozilla Readability + Cheerio strip the SEO padding and pull the actual recipe. Handles paywalls that show recipes-but-not-content.

  3. Instagram reels

Frames + audio transcription + caption analysis. The most reliable extraction we've built — Instagram cooking content is half the reason this app exists.

02 · Cook

Built for the kitchen, not the desk.

Once a recipe is in, the rest of the app gets out of your way. Big text, your personal notes, and everything editable.

  1. Cooking mode

Full-screen, one step at a time, big type. The screen stays awake while you cook — tap to advance, with your scaled ingredients one tap away.

  2. Recipe bin

Deleted recipes aren't gone — they go to a restorable bin. Bring one back any time, or permanently delete when you're sure.

  3. Serving scaler

Adjust servings — every quantity recalculates instantly. Halve a 4-person recipe to 2 without doing maths over a hot pan.

  4. Metric ⇄ imperial toggle

One tap switches every quantity between metric and imperial — '2 cups' becomes '475 ml', not '0.473 litres'. Your choice is remembered across recipes.

  5. Personal notes

Attach private notes to any recipe — substitutions you tried, adjustments that worked, reminders for next time. Saved alongside the recipe.

  6. Edit any recipe

AI got something wrong? Tap an ingredient or step to fix it. Your edits are kept; you can always revert to the AI's original.

03 · Shop

From recipe to grocery list to checkout.

Most recipe apps stop at 'recipe saved.' Shuckly continues to 'groceries priced and ready to shop' — built for the way New Zealanders actually buy food.

  1. Smart grocery lists

Duplicate ingredients across recipes are merged automatically — unit-aware, so '500g flour' + '2 cups flour' becomes one line. Grouped by NZ supermarket aisle.

  2. Real NZ prices

Curated catalogue of common items at Pak'nSave, New World, Countdown, Farro Fresh. Per-item cheapest-store badges. Per-store totals so you can see where the trolley lands.

  3. NZ ingredient names

Capsicum, kumara, coriander, courgette — recognised and mapped to local equivalents when a recipe uses American names.

04 · Organise

Find the recipe you cooked last month.

A pile of saved recipes is just a different kind of bookmark folder. Shuckly's organisation actually helps you find what you're looking for.

  1. Search and filter

Search by title, description, cuisine — or by ingredient, for the 'what can I make with chorizo?' moments. Filter by difficulty, time, and dietary tags. Sort by newest, fastest, or alphabetical.

  2. Cookbooks

Group recipes into your own collections — 'Weeknight dinners', 'Sunday breakfast', 'When the in-laws visit'. Recipes can live in multiple cookbooks.

  3. Public recipe sharing

Generate a public link for any recipe to send to a friend. They can view the full recipe without creating an account — and you can stop sharing anytime, which kills the link instantly.

Try it on your next recipe.
